As a school psychologist, my goal is for all students to experience success in the school environment. School can be a challenging environment for many students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or behaviorally. I provide comprehensive evaluations to help uncover why an individual may be struggling in school. The results include identifying areas of strengths and needs coupled with recommendations to improve school success. Although we may land on a diagnosis, the purpose of the evaluation is to expose the barriers that are preventing academic success. A comprehensive evaluation may look different for each individual, as it is tailored to the referral concerns. Common concerns may included, but are not limited to ADHD, dyslexia and other learning disabilities, and autism.
An evaluation may include:
Intelligence Testing
Academic Achievement Testing
Behavior/Emotional/Social Assessment
Phonological Processing Assessment
Attention and Executive Functioning Assessment
Memory Assessment
Cognitive Processing Assessments

Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluation
A comprehensive evaluation is appropriate for those who have been exposed to several years of instruction and/or interventions but continue to struggle in school. The evaluation process starts with an intake interview with the parents or guardian and completion of appropriate forms. An appointment will be scheduled for your child to be administered the testing and assessments. This typically takes anywhere from four to six hours and can be completed in either one or two sessions. Parents and teachers may also be asked to complete rating scales pertaining to the child's behavioral, social, and/or emotional functioning skills. After all of the testing and assessments are completed, a comprehensive psycho-educational report will be written. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled to review the results/report with the parents and the student.

Dyslexia Screener Evaluation
The dyslexia screener evaluation process will begin with an intake interview with the parents or guardian and completion of appropriate forms. An appointment will be scheduled for your child to be administered assessments that are known to be highly correlated with reading difficulties. This typically will take one to two hours. Writing samples and school records will also be requested and reviewed. After the assessments are completed, the results and impressions will be provided in a written report. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled to review the results with the parents and student.
The screener is best suited for children in kindergarten or early first grade and are beginning to suspect reading difficulties. The screener is not appropriate for those seeking services through the Children's Dyslexia Center Upper Wisconsin. The testing involved in a comprehensive evaluation is required in order to meet their application requirements.
